Thermal Theory

Carol Shestok, Rose Vetere and the Abbot Grade 5 Team (Kathy Pacsay, Bud Maranville, Amie Peloquin, Tracey O'Neill, Sheila Pariseau and Barbara Menzie

Abbot School, Grade 5

This project will install environmental sensing equipment in Grade 5 classroom allowing student to perform an interdisciplinary research project. As the classrooms at Abbot have significantly different window sizes and ceiling heights. Students will examine how these differences affect temperature in their classrooms. Students will collect and analyze data, draw conclusions and make recommendations that will be communicated to the school system.

Business Using Computers

Peter Witts

Blanchard Middle School, Grade 8

Students in the Computer Technology course will participate in business and manufacturing simulation. Students will be placed on team with specific roles in the company (e.g., CEO, CFO, Marketing Director, Manufacturing Director). Students will use the digital camera and video camera provided under this grant to develop multi-media presentations for marketing and business plans in the project.

Millennium Mini-Olympics

Marilyn Frost, Sandy Wright, Kathy Schuyler

Millennium, Grades 3-5

Students will be participating in a 'Mini-Olympics' during recess time using a variety of materials provided by this grant (e.g., hackey sacks, buddy boards, jump ropes, ball bands Yo-Yo's). Skills and events will be created, performed and recorded by student leaders from each grade. The event will be emphasis the importance of training, practice and performance the spirit of the Olympics.

Digital Voice - The Sound of Technology

Arlene Jurkiewicz

Westford Academy, Grades 9-12

This project will procure a digital video tape player to complement the digital video recorders at the school. The player will help offset the demand on the recorders and help the students edit their video productions
